| Short Bus came together in late 2003, with Ed Travalia (guitars,
vocals) and Paul Goldberg (bass, vocals) of Speedwobble joining
up with the talented Anthony Galano (guitars) and Jane Gong
(vocals, keyboard). Joe Evans (drums) joined on in
early 2004 to complete the lineup but left to pursue solo
interests in mid 2005. John "Woody" Wood and Ric Valencia
joined on in Joe's place to take over drums/percussion duties.
Sadly, John had to leave the band due to illness and
Joe rejoined the Bus in late 2005. The start of 2007
brought uncertainty for the future of ShortBus. Ed Travlia
moved out of state and had to leave the band. Joe Evans
left to persue his own musical interests as well.
After a year on hiatus, ShortBus reformed as power quintent
with original members Anthony Galano on guitars, Paul Goldberg
on bass, Jane Gong on keyboards, and new drummer Peter Skilj
of the famed Bay Area punk band NME.
Classic rock influences include the Allman Brothers, Eric
Clapton, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin.
Alternative influences include RHCP, STP, Sublime, No Doubt,
Phish, and Silverchair.
Jam band influences include The Grateful Dead, moe. , Umphrey's McGee, and Phish.

Anthony Galano - Guitar
Hometown: Sunnyvale, California
My influences lie mainly in the blues with strong rhythmic
playing and melodic pentatonic licks (aka Dickey Betts and
Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers). I play
a Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster, Epiphone Les Paul, and Gibson SG (tuned open e).
For amps I use a Soldano Astroverb through an Avatar 2x12 cab or 4x12B Marshall cab
and a Fender Blues Junior. |
Paul
Goldberg - Bass, Vocals
Hometown: Montclair, New Jersey
I used to play guitar. Then one day Ed said
"Hey Paul, you've got a bass, now you're the bass player!" And
thus my career in bassdom began. As such, my influences
include everything I can get my hands (or ears!) on - anything
from Flea to Paul McCartney to John Paul Jones to Geddy Lee
and more. I used to consider myself a guitar player who
played the bass, now it's the other way around. My basses
include a Smith, a Yamaha, and a Curbow (not Cort!) which I
play thru a Hartke 1415 combo bass amp. |
Jane
Gong - Vocals, Keyboards
Hometown: Shanghai, China
I grew up with a lot of Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop but expanded
my horizons in college and got into a lot of alternative music. I
now sing lead vocals on some songs and play the keyboard and
provide background vocals on others. |
Peter Skilj - Drums

Ed
Travalia - Guitar, Vocals
Hometown: Park Ridge, New Jersey
I guess I could be classified as a strongly rhythmic, noisy/melodic
guitarist, with main influences being Duane Allman and Trey
Anastasio, with enough 80s metal thrown in to make things noisy. I
play Fender and Guild guitars through Mesa Boogie Amps - and
have been playing music from the age of 5, and guitar since
the age of 14. |
Joe Evans - Drums/Percussion
Hometown: Dayton, Ohio
I've been playing for over 15 years. I enjoy playing almost all
styles of music, but especially like jam bands and blues. Some of
my favorite bands are moe. and Phish. I also have an original
band called Insex.

Ric Valencia - Drums/Percussion
Hometown:
I've been playing for about 20 years, no real formal training
other than drum books and videos. My favorite drummers are
Erskine, Mason, Copeland, Porcarro, and Bonham. I love most
types of music, but my biggest idols are Queen, Zeppelin, the
Beatles, the Police, Toto, Steely Dan, and Fourplay... I'm
really into music that has "too much passion"... I don't mind
playing a low profile role as long as it makes the music flow. |
Brian
Souders - Harmonica/Vocals
Hometown: Sunnyvale, California
I grew up surrounded by Gospel music and slow jazz. Playing
piano and tenor sax my direct influences were that of Kenny
G and a bunch of Oldies but Goodies records. When I started
playing harp I changed my focus to blues and there I stayed.
I’ve been playing music for over 10 years and singing in the
shower since I was 6 years old. |
